Officer Henrichon was killed in an airplane accident while searching for a missing person. The man had been reported missing after failing to arrive at his destination in Yuma, Arizona. An aerial search was undertaken for fear that the man’s car had gone off the road in a rugged area. The plane crashed into a hillside near San Diego, California, as a result of inclement weather. Officer Henrichon had been with the agency for six years and was survived by his wife and son.

CVPD Officer Robert Earl Cox, who died in the line of duty on July 19, 1958. Cox was hired as a Chula Vista Police officer on October 23, 1957, and had been on the department for about 9 months at the time of his death. Officer Cox was killed in an on-duty traffic collision with a Chula Vista Fire Truck while responding to an emergency call at the intersection of Third Avenue and J Street in Chula Vista. Cox was a bachelor and resided in San Diego and attended San Diego State University. He was also a former US Marine Reservist during the Korean War.
