Deputy Sheriff Edward Foley was shot and killed while attempting to stop a car at a roadblock. The officers were waiting for a group of suspects in a Studebaker. The suspects instead pulled up in another car that they had just stolen. When the deputies motioned to them to stop one of the occupants shot Deputy Foley in the chest, killing him. The suspects fled and were never apprehended. Deputy Foley had served with the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office for ten years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
Jamie was a devoted family man. He was a wonderful co-worker who you could trust and depend on. What we remember most about Jamie were his impressions. He was a master at them! He could always put a smile on our face. Correctional Officer Lents had served with the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office since April 2005.
Eric was a wonderful man. He was a ray of sunshine in this world. Eric would go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. He was the big brother that most never had. His smile was contagious and he had the best sense of humor. Eric was passionate about everything he did and was a great Officer. Eric will always be deeply missed. Correctional Officer Almquist had served with the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office since October 2017.
